Ittiyera, a Kerala-based coconut oil company with a legacy spanning nearly a century, has built its reputation on producing some of the finest quality edible coconut oil. With a rich heritage and great attention to their craft, Ittiyera has long thrived in the B2B segment. However, as they ventured into the B2C market, they recognized the need for a distinctive identity and packaging that would stand out in a competitive landscape and foster customer trust.
Outcome :
The new branding and packaging for Ittiyera achieved a remarkable presence in the crowded oils segment. The design, characterised by its simplicity, effectively distinguished Ittiyera in a cluttered market, positioning it as a reliable and premium brand amid many adulterated products. This unconventional approach, diverging from typical oil packaging, gained widespread acceptance from customers. The minimalist yet memorable packaging not only enhanced brand recall but also significantly boosted trust and loyalty towards the brand.

(BRAND IDENTITY)
We designed Ittiyera's identity and packaging to convey the brand's strong foundation and the purity of its products, aiming to establish a unique brand voice that would set it apart in the competitive retail market. The elongated serif 'I' served as an extension of the logo, enhancing its distinctiveness and aiding in brand recall. We selected unique colours that deviated from the usual segment palette and strategically employed white space to emphasise the oil's purity and quality. This thoughtful approach resulted in a visually striking and memorable brand identity, ensuring Ittiyera stood out prominently on store shelves.
(BOTTLE DESIGN)
Ittiyera's bottle was designed to seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics, embodying the brand's voice while optimising for storage. Its unique shape and thoughtful design set the brand apart from competitors on crowded shelves. Moreover, the smart bottle was crafted for ease of use and a stylish appearance, making it a product customers were proud to display in their kitchens.
(THE SIGNATURE ELEMENT)
The label was designed to be simple yet strong, enhancing the premium quality and solidifying the brand's identity. When displayed together, the labels created a striking visual appeal setting Ittiyera apart from other oils on the shelf. The 'I' acted as a prominent signature element, representing the brand name 'Ittiyera' and evoking ideas such as 'me,' 'one,' and 'a pillar,' creating multiple associations in the customer's mind. Complemented by illustrations for each flavour, this cohesive design system extends across all flavours and package sizes.
